Police apprehend Santa Ana driver in hit-and-run accident

When a person in Fullerton is the victim of a hit-and-run accident, she may feel at a loss. After all, she may want to hold the hit-and-run driver liable via a civil lawsuit but may have no idea who the hit-and-run driver is. However, as one recent incident shows, it is possible to track down hit-and-run drivers.

A 36-year-old woman who police say caused a hit-and-run pedestrian accident has recently been apprehended and taken into custody. The woman seems to have attempted to change her appearance in order to avoid being identified. She wore blue contact lenses to change the color of her eyes, dyed her hair a bright pink hue and got a facial tattoo.

The accident occurred in April when the victim was walking through a crosswalk near a Denny's restaurant at approximately 2:15 in the morning. He was reportedly struck by the woman who was driving a black BMW. The woman exited her vehicle and approached the victim, but then got back into her vehicle and fled the scene of the accident. The victim was taken to the hospital with critical injuries and eventually was declared "brain dead".

One witness to the scene was able to take a photograph of the woman. After the story was presented to the public, investigators received many tips leading up to the woman's arrest. The woman is facing multiple criminal charges with regards to the incident.

The victim's family may be relieved to have identified the driver that reportedly struck their loved one so that they can hold her responsible through a civil lawsuit if they wish. And as this shows, victims of hit-and-run accidents and their loved ones should not lose hope. It is possible to identify and locate a hit-and-run driver and hold him or her accountable. By pursuing compensation through a lawsuit, the victim or his or her loved ones may be able to recover expenses related to medical care, pain and suffering and more.
