Two pedestrians killed and one injured in Echo Park crash

When most people in California leave their homes to take a walk, they may not anticipate that they will encounter a dangerous situation. However, even something as simple as a daily walk is not without dangers, and sometimes catastrophe.

Fullerton residents may be saddened to hear of a car crash in Echo Park that killed two pedestrians and left two other individuals with severe injuries. The accident took place around 9:00 a.m. in an intersection near a crosswalk. According to the Lose Angeles Fire Department, a car drove through a fire hydrant and then collided with a light post, shearing off the bottom. The car then hit three pedestrians. Two of the pedestrians died instantly, while the third was hospitalized with critical injuries. The driver of the car was also hospitalized with critical injuries.

Officer were not immediately sure whether the car was traveling above the posted speed limit or whether alcohol played a role in the crash. However, the authorities are investigating the situation. While area residents did not report witnessing the accident, they have stated that the intersection where the accident occurred is "incredibly dangerous," citing a number of accidents that occurred in the past.

Even responsible pedestrians who stay on sidewalks and in crosswalks, pay attention to traffic and follow the rules of the road can find themselves the victims of pedestrian accidents. When this happens, they or their family members may want to consider pursuing a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit. By doing so, they can seek damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages and more. The compensation provided by a successful lawsuit can help families out during what is a difficult time in their lives.
