Study: risky behaviors for car accidents prevalent in California

A car collision can happen anywhere regardless of the statistics and the perceptions that accompany certain locations. However, there are certain locations where the numbers show that it is fundamentally more dangerous to be on the road. Los Angeles and several other areas on California are statistically considered some of the most dangerous areas in the U.S. A study from QuoteWizard Insurance conducted the research and provided this information.

The study sampled more than 2 million data points from last year. Incidents were weighted for all 75 metro areas based on the percentage of occurrences. The number of accidents in each city, the traffic citations, speeding citations, and driving under the influence were accounted for in the calculations. The citations that were calculated varied from people going through red lights to using a cellphone while behind the wheel.

Los Angeles came in sixth in the rankings and had a high rate of DUIs. Sacramento was first and had the fourth highest number of DUIs. Other California cities that came in the top 15 were Fresno, the Bay Area, San Diego, Riverside and Bakersfield. With Los Angeles also known as a state with a high incidence of road rage, drivers must be wary when they are on the road no matter how safely they are operating their vehicle.

For those who have been injured or lost a loved one in an auto accident, the cause is an important factor when considering seeking compensation through a legal filing. With the medical costs, lost wages, personal, financial and emotional aftereffects of a car collision with injuries or fatalities, it is vital to understand the importance of gathering evidence as soon as possible. Discussing the case with a legal professional experienced in car accidents is imperative to pursue a case.
