Auto-pedestrian accident kills man in wheelchair

Everyone who is on the road in Orange County and throughout California should be vigilant and aware of his or her surroundings. Pedestrians might believe that because they are not in a motor vehicle, they are relatively safe from an auto accident. Unfortunately, pedestrian accidents happen quite frequently and cause serious injuries and deaths. People who are not protected by a vehicle and are hit are susceptible to significant damage. These can cost massive amounts in medical expenses, lost wages and more if the person survives. If there is a fatality, the family left behind will be forced to deal with the financial and personal fallout. In these circumstances, people should be aware of their rights to seek compensation in a legal filing.

A pedestrian does not necessarily have to be walking to be a victim. This was proven in a recent crash. At about 2:45 p.m., a two-vehicle accident between an SUV and an Acura forced the Acura onto the sidewalk. It then hit a 63-year-old man in wheelchair. A sheriff's department lieutenant said that the man in the wheelchair went flying. He was taken to the hospital and he died. The driver who hit him remained at the scene. Thus far, there have been no arrests and drugs or alcohol are not believed to have factored into the crash.

A pedestrian accident can happen for a variety of reasons, but when it occurs as a person is simply on the sidewalk and is hit after a crash between vehicles in the street, it can be difficult to accept. These accidents can be random with the pedestrian having obeyed all the rules to stay safe and still ending up with injuries and dying after an auto accident. Regardless of who it is who is injured or killed in an auto-pedestrian accident, there are certain realities that are universal. There will be medical costs, loss of companionship, potential lost wages and more. While it might be difficult to think about, a legal filing is often the only way to be adequately compensated for all that was lost.

In this accident, two-vehicle crash forced one onto the sidewalk. It hit a man who was in a wheelchair. He later succumbed to his injuries and died. As the investigation moves forward, the man's family must ensure that they are protected for all eventualities. A legal professional experienced in helping people who have been affected by a fatal pedestrian accident can provide guidance in pursuing compensation in a legal claim.
